In an effort to provide more empirical evidence related to the contributions of authentic texts in learning reading in terms of cognitive reading engagement of students. Therefore, this present study focuses on the effects of teacher’s using authentic texts on students’ cognitive reading engagement. Particularly, this study aims at identifying the effects of authentic texts used in reading classes. Another aim is to examine Vietnamese EFL students’ perceptions of learning reading with authentic texts.
